Juraj Gábor:
Práve teraz / Right Now

Na kopci nad Súľovom vznikla Zraková pyramída – monumentálny drevený objekt výtvarníka Juraja Gábora.

A paralelne s ním vzniká v galérii Plusmínusnula jeho myšlienkové zázemie.

Vernisáž v nedeľu 6. 12. 2015 o 18.00, výstava potrvá do ± 8. 1. 2016.

Cesta Juraja Gábora do galérie Plusmínusnula nebola jednoduchá.

A nakoniec zase do galérie.

Juraj Gábor

Zraková Pyramída

Juraj Gábor / Right Now

On a hill above Súľov (Slovakia), a Visual Pyramid is coming to life – a monumental wooden object designed by artist Juraj Gábor. Alongside, an exposition of the background and the thought processes behind this project is being created in the Plusmínusnula gallery.

The path that led Juraj Gábor to collaboration with the Plusmínusnula gallery was not a simple one. We have known him for a long time already and on top of that we are keen of his work. We have been classmates throughout one of the grades at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava during our studies. We all envied the artwork he presented at the end of the first year of his studies. Why? Because it was the best one. Even with all this being said, we did not plan an exhibition with him in the Plusmínusnula gallery beforehand.

The notion of the Visual Pyramid, which is coming to life above the village of Súľov, has not passed by anyone unnoticed. It is one of the greatest artworks of the contemporarymonumental sculpture that has been originally created for an exhibition in the Regional Art Galleryin Zlín (Czech Republic). The creation of the Visual Pyramid in Zlín has been instigated by the fact that in the year 2012 Juraj Gábor won the Igor Kalný Award. Originally, it has been intended to just transport the Visual Pyramid from Zlín somewhere to Slovakia, install the Visual Pyramid in the exterior, but this time without any projection or use of other technology (the technology in a form of machinery used to position it in place is an exception). The artwork in honor of the landscape.

An artwork of this proportion – great both in size and significance, could not exist without the amount of material and ideas that predated its creation or the ideas emerging throughout the process of creating this masterpiece itself. This process naturally led to the Plusmínusnula gallery,

becoming a transitional depository of Juraj Gábor’s ideas tied to the creation of the Visual Pyramid. In other words, the gallery itself has become a composed workspace. In the centre of it is located an object – pantograph, alongside of individual designs and blueprints of the pyramid. The background of the object refers to the Súľov’s landscape. The reference itself can be found in a form of a drawing or a landscape created from the leftover material used for the construction of the pyramid. It is a testament to an artwork that travelled from the landscape to gallery and then back to the landscape. And in the end of its journey, it returns back to the gallery once again.
