Kolektívna výstava Do dvoch je jedným z výstupov projektu, ktorý prepája dve organizácie – Stanicu Žilina-Záriečie s Kriti gallery v indickom Varanasi. Počas štvortýždenného pobytu dvoch indických fotografov – Nandity Raman a Anirbana Duttu, v spolupráci s dvoma slovenskými fotografmi – Petrom Snadíkom a Petrom Homolom, vzniká okrem iných výstupov projektu inštalácia priamo pre priestor galérie Plusmínusnula. Jednotlivé diela na výstave sú dôkazom, nakoľko sa podarilo nájsť spoločnú reč štyroch autorov z dvoch veľmi odlišných kultúrnych pozadí. Krátke texty vznikli ako zápisky jednotlivých autorov o ich práci.

Anirban Dutta
Zaujímam sa o spomienky, ich uchovávanie a odmietanie. To, čo odmietame a chceme zabudnúť odchádza, alebo to zanecháva po sebe nejaký tieň? Manipulujeme svoje spomienky a uchovávame si len to, čo chceme? Keď je krajina svedkom nejakých udalostí, je to v nej zaznamenané navždy? Alebo, naopak, odstránením fyzických stôp sa vymazávajú aj minulé udalosti? Moje dve diela vedú v priestore, kde naraz koexistujú, dialóg medzi minulosťou a spomienkami.

Vietor je neviditeľný, môžeš ho vidieť iba zástupnými prvkami. Môžeš vidieť, ako sa hýbe lístie v stromoch, môžeš vidieť letieť igelitku vo vzduchu. Vieš, že tam je. Ale vietor samotný neuvidíš.
Smrť je neviditeľná. Smrť môžeš vidieť iba zástupnými prvkami. Môžeš vidieť, ako sa prestane hýbať tvoje domáce zvieratko, môžeš vidieť, ako dodýcha niekto blízky. Vieš, že tu je. Ale smrť samotnú neuvidíš. Alebo možno aj áno.
Nandita Raman
Utópia je možnosť. Nie v spôsobe, ako rozmýšľame, skôr v spôsobe, ako sa veci môžu udiať. Utópia1 vyžaduje možnosť neustálej zmeny viery, takže nedosiahne inštitucionálnu stagnáciu. Utopia2 objavuje tému prekladu skúsenosti do jazyka. Utópia je predstava ľudskej mysle, ale to je aj jazyk a viera. Kedy je teda utópia nemožnou?
Peter Snadík
Kde leží neutralita vo výstavnom priestore? Čo a koho reprezentuje biela kocka? S čím vstupuje do galérie divák a kde je pomyselná čiara stretu s autorom?
Fotografia je kresba svetlom, tieň je jeho negatívom a prísľubom. Vďaka tieňu vnímame priestor, jeho plasticitu, zakrivenie a hĺbku. Môžeme zanechať svoj tieň?.

Group exhibitions Do dvoch (Two by Two) is one of outcomes of a project, which connect two organizations – Stanica Žilina – Zárečie and Kriti Gallery in Varanasi, India. The for weeks residency of Indian photographers Nandita Raman and Anirban Dutta resulted also into the exhibition created in cooperation with Slovak photographers Peter Snadík and Peter Homola directly for the premises of Plusmínusnula gallery. Particular artworks of the exhibition show how successfully four diff erent artists from two completely diff erent backgrounds have found one language of expression. Short texts were created as notes of particular artists to their artworks.

I am concerned about memories and the retention and the rejection of them. What do we reject and what do we want to forget, does it go away or does the shadow of it remain? Do we manipulate with it and do we retain what we want? When does a piece of land witness an event, what are the lines drawn on it forever? Can it be removed by removing physical structures? These two pieces create a dialogue between memories of the past and memories that are constructed today in a space where they co-exist.

Wind is invisible; you can see it only through substituting elements. You can see the leaves in the trees moving, you can see a plastic bag fl ying in the air. You know it is here. But you don’t see the wind per se. Death is invisible. You can see death only through substituting elements. You can see, how your pet stops moving, you can see how someone close stops breathing. You know it is here. But you won´t see the death per se. Or maybe you will.
Nandita Raman
Utopia is a possibility. Not the way things are but a way things may become. Utopia1 desires for the possibility of constant change in religion so that it doesn’t reach an institutional stasis. Utopia2 explores the problems of translating an experience into language. Utopia is an imagination of the human mind but so is language and religion. Then is it really an impossible state?
Peter Snadík
Where does neutrality lie in the exhibition space? Who and what is represented by the white cube? What are the expectations and position of the visitor coming to the gallery and where is the meeting line with the artist? Photography is painting with light, shadow is its negative and promise. Thanks to shadow we perceive the space, its plasticity, curvature and depth. Can we leave our shadow behind?
