XYZ je tvorivá ´enkláva´ Milana Tittela (1966) a Mateja Gavulu (1972). Autori vedú vzájomný dialóg od roku 1997. Spája ich práca s matériou, ktorej vyjadrenie v posledných rokoch, popri rozvíjaní performatívneho prejavu, transformujú do podoby fotografie či videa.

Napriek tomu pretrváva aj ukotvenie v „hmote“ – v jej surovom charaktere, či spracovanej verzii. Svoju pozornosť nekoncentrujú len na výskum média ako takého, ale aj rôznych efemérnych, banálnych situácií každodennej reality, niekedy s náznakom analýzy, inokedy z pozície pozorovateľov a nezaujatých svedkov. Vo všednosti rozpoznávajú nevšedné, ktoré abstrahujú a bez zbytočných nánosov, v čistej forme ponúkajú / posúvajú ďalej. Inokedy nenápadným gestom narušia štandardné vnímanie diania a diváka vytrhnú z bezpečných vôd poznania a zabehnutých spôsobov percepcie. XYZ zriedkakedy vystavujú sami – na väčšinu výstavných projektov si prizývajú tvorivo spriaznených a mentálne podobne nastavených umelcov – Cyrila Blaža, Romana Ondáka, Miroslava Csölleho… Na výstave xy zelina odprezentujú Matej Gavula a Milan Tittel tri nové kolaboratívne projekty xyzifos(2012), Re passage (2012) a Exkurz(2012), zaznamenávajúce performatívne akty v urbánnom priestore (s participujúcim Miroslavom Csöllem). Prizvaným umelcom na výstave xy zelina je Roman Ondák (1966). Vystavené diela reagujú na momenty premiestňovania sa, zmeny kontextu / vnímania, prenikania, re-lokácie, posunu času, čakania…

XYZ is a creative ‘enclave’ of Milan Tittel (1966) and Matej Gavula (1972).The artists lead their mutual dialogue since 1997. They are connected via the work with the mater which, in recent years, they transformed in the form of photography or video, in addition to developing performance.Despite that, the attachment in the “mass” remains – in its raw nature or processed version.They focus their attention not only on examining the media as such, but also on various ephemeral and banal situations of everyday reality, sometimes with a hint of analysis, other time from the point of view of observers and unbiased witnesses.They recognize the extraordinary within an ordinary and they abstract and offer / pass it further without unnecessary layers, in its clear form.At other times they disturb standard perception of events by inconspicuous gesture and pull an audience out of safe waters of knowledge and established ways of perception.XYZ seldom exhibit alone – for most of their exhibition projects they co-invite artists who are creatively related and have similar mental set up – Cyril Blažo, Roman Ondák, Miroslav Csölle…At the xy zelina (xy herb) exhibition, Matej Gavula and Milan Tittel will present three new collaborative projects xyzifos(2012), Re passage (2012) and Exkurz(2012), which display performance acts in urban space (with Miroslav Csölle participating).Roman Ondák (1966) is the exhibition’s invited artist.Exhibited works of art respond to the moments of displacing, changes in context / perception, relocation, shifting of time, waiting…
